From Goca Weis on The Overstory by Richard Powers:
I recently read The Overstory, a novel by Richard Powers, and have recommended it to many of my friends. The Overstory drops you into the lives of 9 flawed individuals and their love for trees. Through their stories you discover how much like humans trees really are. They experience pain, communicate with each other, look after one another, and despite not having a brain they are ‘aware’. Throughout the book I was left feeling heartbroken at the realization of how much we as humans disregard the importance of trees in our lives and how critical they are for our survival. It’s a great read and worth mentioning it won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2019.
